Adventure Pursuits Director Abby Stroven and her Intern Caitlin Wheeler spent their spring break down in Pennsylvania visiting Sherpa-turned gear designer, Kristin Birdsall (KB).
We spent a day bouldering and a day hiking around the area. It was nice to get outside and breathe the fresh air and enjoy some relaxing time with great friends. Our hike was along this trail that had waterfalls periodically. Even though the weather was awesome, the trail was in the shade and super icy. Parts of the trail were sheets of ice that we tried to go around. We knew the trail was dicey when the dog wouldn’t even go on it. At one point we were trying to bushwhack our way down a hill side because the trail, which was switching back, was a giant sheet of ice. We tried to use the dog leash which was an old climbing rope as rope to hand on to for stability. It was a creative use of resources and we had fun with the day and trip no matter what came our way.
